Even now dual analog isn't that great. It demands a lot of context sensitivity, the removal of potential ambiguity and the simplification of interaction, because you can't just do things by clicking directly on them, your accuracy is so limited that you can only hover nearby and hope that the system helps you perform the correct action.

I'm implying that we should get over our obsession with using only one type of controller for everything, especially since it's generally far behind whatever the more suitable input method is. Controllers are no longer some cheap and simple input device for consoles with special plugs, practically every console has a USB input and the capability to run nearly any controller, the only reason they don't is because they're making bank on garbage build quality controllers sold at a premium.
