Yeah, there are still too many things not accounted for. Calyx clearly knows about the Source and its reflections, so either he's an Ascian who was "awakened" by a memory crystal or he learned stuff from one. That might also explain why he's so obsessed with leaving one's physical body behind and attain "true eternal life", the Ascian were pretty much masters in this.
