This is so wrong that there's no way you even played the game. The changes homogenizing the game mostly came in wrath/cata and were pve focused, because people were whining that their spec wasn't desired in dungeons/raids, so you started getting changes like everyone gets aoe or a raid buff. You have stuff like replenishment being added as a mechanic and granted to multiple specs because people didn't like that having a shadow priest felt mandatory in raids. Those changes are not arena focused at all.
