this was already demonstrated in the nintendo shovelware era when anyone could release games and most of it was mario clones but the characters and games had arbitrary names and box art that resembled the media vaguely it tried to ape

or you dont even have to leave the bounds of the IP and just take a look at the fucking shit buffet interplay execs had lined up for the IP before it went bankrupt
