The controls are excellent, the levels are too big. There are too many encounters that you can clearly see the spawn points because enemies just pop into it, especially infected, and you use like 20% of the available area to fight and then waste a ton of time scavanging the empty massive arena for resources you don't even need because the game shits out bullets willy nilly for you even on Survivor.
When you're shooting people it feels great but The Last of Us was never mainly about shooting people. Uncharted 2 still has much better action game encounters.
Much like Alan Wake II, though, you can't really discuss the game's shortcomings because the controversial crap acts as a smokescreen and people get to disregard anything you say by calling you buzzwords.
