They made iframes a stat to tax the players level up and stop the game actually being an RPG where the player could actually diversify and find different tactics. It also doubles up with retarded mechanics like soul memory that disincentivize the player doing anything but mashing their face on a boss until they win.
Dark Souls 2 is completely and fundamentally designed around rollsouls and is inarguably when the series went to shit.
