Wonder is SOVL to the extreme, and probably the only Mario platformer of the entire franchise that feels like they wanted to do something a little "extra" rather than just making the same game and slapping another NEW in the title or making another generic platformer but with one new powerup.
"Doing something different" can be a good thing or a bad thing, though, depending on who you ask, and I'm still salty that Yoshi's the game's babymode character.
