A lot of classes still have more nuance to them than that. Like most melee classes play themselves, but for example, if you wanted to be a good DH in Dragonflight you actually had to put in a lot of effort and it would show, high end DHs were gapping each other. Plus there's stuff the game doesn't outright teach you. Like if you play Feral druid outside of your major cooldown dumping, you're basically entirely proc reliant to stay competitive with other specs IF your tank isn't pulling big (bigger than 8 since bleeds don't have the target cap dogshit). Which is confusing for any player. Why would you perform less than others, wouldn't it make more sense to reward more damage output than other people if your spec is tethered to RNG? Or in the case of Fire Mage where if you're outside of combust you're basically not even a real player so everything is reliant on that one cooldown and yet you get nerfed anyway and Arcane gets to have all the class fantasy Fire used to have without any of the drawbacks.
