It's just a Band-Aid. WoW is a game of bloat, nowadays. The systems are bloated; the classes are bloated; the rotations are bloated; the lore is bloated (and complete shit). They've gone through multiple stages of prune, only for the game to end up right back in the same pickle.
I hopped back in during the War Within and, while I feel that mythic was kind of fun, it's basically just spastic APM pushing bullshit. That's far removed from WoW when it launched, which did not ask much at all in the way of APM--and yet launched one of the most successful games of all time.
WoW needs a WoW2, not a "Single-Button Assistant."
