But even it gets out of date when it comes to less popular games. For example, there are some games which started working perfectly as of Proton 9 or Proton 10 (currently in beta), but the last reports were users flagging it as a "Bronze" game and it was only tested with Proton 7.
Also, you'll see Steam Deck reviews by default, which are often also concerned with "does this game work with the joystick".
Compatibility has been improving rapidly in the past 5-6 years. I have around 350 PC games across GOG and Steam, they all work as of the release of Proton 10.
