That has always been a thing. I don't know where you live but back in my day, I was always called a loner and a weirdo back in my highschool and college years. I still got a circle of friends because I had money.
Nowadays zoomers are by large just normies. They dont benefit in being nerdy outcasts because nerd culture as a whole doesn't exist anymore because it has been coopted into the mainstream.
