there is no version of Quake that rewards erratic ADAD spam the way recent COD and its clones do. Quake has BIG HITBOXES and CLEAN VISUALS and its momentum (you build up speed over time) and item economy mean you have to move somewhat predictably. meanwhile the kinds of games that get called "movement shooters" now all have tiny hitboxes, messy visuals, no weight to the character and no item cycles to worry about.

I suppose Titanfall has some weight to its movement but in the other aspects it's just like the rest of the bastardized "movement shooter" genre. the highlight clips ITT are all of a player moving around randomly. he's not on his way to anywhere, he's just circling the map and taking pot shots. it's a superficial mimic of Quake gameplay. in any of the interesting game modes in Quake the player would actually be going somewhere for real reasons. and the enemy models would be clearly visible. and the enemies wouldn't die in one shot.
