Well the big "simplification" that the other guy was trying to squeeze out of that anon is the change from jumping trimp physics to actual frictionless sliding across surfaces officially supported by the game. People think this is some massive dumbing down of the mechanics because it means every new player could immediately start playing with Skiing and get a feel for it, but the mwheel/macro needed to spam jump in the earlier games was never part of the gameplay it was just an arbitrary barrier which kept out those who weren't "In the know". The only people who really care about that change were players who wanted to feel like they were special snowflakes with arcane knowledge doing their clever trick on a server full of people who weren't aware

>Hell I think back in closed alpha it might not have had any, since I recall it being an issue that you could easily outspeed your disk and
I was one of the guys driving that argument on the alpha boards yes, they lied about exactly what they were doing with inheritance and had this weird ghetto solution where discs inherited partial momentum in one direction only instead of using the original values. I have sympathy for what they were trying to do because the forum was full of people asking them to go all in on 100% inheritance in all directions despite this not being the case in earlier Tribes and almost certainly not being very enjoyable as adjusting for vertical inheritance in a game where you move in parabolas is obnoxiously awkward. The forum was asking for this as a kind of purity meme instead of being pragmatic about it

In the end they had limited inheritance by default and I believe they allowed you to buy a meme weapon from the shop with 100% inheritance which nobody used, but I had stopped playing by that point
