Anon, you don't want to be listening to buzzing all night over your head unless you are mentally ill. On that note, total gaming ban (if that is the case here) seem like easy and lazy way to put off responsibility of a parent for their child who they worry will be spending days and night in front of the screen playing games. Instead of setting rules about playing games (idk, 2h daily, not living up to the agreement results in 1 week gaming ban, repeatedly committing this offense might warrant extension of gaming ban to 2-3 weeks, maybe month), but that would require more effort and being consequential to work, otherwise kid might indeed end up burning too much time on games.
