Yea seriously. I think it takes the coolness of being elegant and beautiful and tears it down to be more in line with Western values by making it into something pathetic.
When it really comes down to it, is Hornet the same? No. She's not being raped and overpowered by some big ugly bug. She's not being made to look like some weak thing to prop up some masculine figure. It's just talking about past relationships. It's written in a kind of cringy prose, but still.
