The Shadow comparison is pretty good. I'd say Jin got the shittier end of the stick though. Shadow was frozen almost immediately after Maria's death. So he only got to feel it for a relatively short period of time. Jin had to stew on Lora's death for 500 years. He froze her body and dragged it around as a reminder that the god of this world is his enemy. Hell humans are his enemies. Everyone is praising Indol like they didn't sink a Titan just to make sure Torna's legacy died. Say what you will about Malos. He never lied and was entirely upfront about his intentions. I think an interesting dynamic is how Malos, Jin, and Amalthus all have the same goal but entirely different ways they justify it.
