Them wasting Amon was the worst part (alongside Korra getting airbending with no character development), but to me the most annoying element of the season was throwing all four main characters into love triangles when they've barely even interacted. It's not compelling, just trite, and it fucked up their dynamic as Team Avatar for the rest of the series. They're never on a mission all together until season 3, that's crazy.
