I haven't played the new version, so I don't know if the game is really difficult. But in my opinion, Metroidvanias can't have a difficulty level equivalent to, I don't know, arcade games like Metal Slug from the fourth level onwards, or classic shooters like Strikers 1945, that is, all these arcade games that are genuinely difficult.
They are exploration games where you revisit areas all the time, and if it's too difficult to navigate the areas, you start to have an obstacle to progress in the fucking game.
Hollow Knight, for example, is SUPER easy outside of the bosses. Despite this bringing its own problems, I think it's the right thing to do within this terrible genre of Metroidvanias that I've learned to hate over time (and the first version of Hollow Knight, which didn't even have pins to put on the map, was one of those responsible for this hatred).
