Like in Cyber Sleuths, Digimon are reported to be these "elite hacker tools! Used for intense computer hacking!" Then in the narrative of the story all they effectively are are just guns. They don't do any actual hacking or changing of anything. The closest I think one of them gets is an air conditioner goes on the fritz. Every other part of the story, they just act as guards to prevent people in their VR headsets from getting into a building.
