It's an unspoken worldwide phenomena there are literally cave drawings depicting it, you have your myths like Zeus fucking women in animal forms and probably where the half man half monster myths also started apperaing like the minotaurs, centaurs, mermaids etc. there are statues in some indian temple showcasing it you might not realize it but it was probably more common back then till religion and societal norms started changing viewpoints
