its not that i want instant gratification its just that vintage story is obviously just a "what if" scenario of a minecraft total conversion
take knapping for example:
>find flint, granite, andesite, chert, basalt, peridotite or obsidian
flint is the easiest to find but the ground model has 23 different color variations so unless you know what you're looking for you'll be mousing over it and looking at the tooltip
>while holding the knappable stone, shift+rightclick on the ground to begin knapping EXCEPT with other stones you have to place one stone on the ground first and rightclick on it with the stone in your hand
>dialog box shows up with the options for which tool head you want to make
>click on knife
>now you have to click away on boxes in a 10x10 grid
if i have to select which tool head to make why doesnt it just give me the tool head anyway? does the game want me to roleplay making the item? if so why not make me carve out the item manually with no guide
>now you can combine the tool head with a stick in the crafting grid. flint can make axes, hoes, knives, shovels, spears and arrowheads. tools of flint or obsidian last longer than andesite, basalt, chert, granite or peridot
>bone handled tools have 10 extra points of durability
why even have these extra variants of tools then? why would i ever make an andesite knife if i can just walk around on the ground for a minute or two and find flint to make a longer lasting knife
this is all just tedious busywork to, like i said above, pad out the games runtime to make it seem deeper than it actually is
