Star wars was never good, but the visual and worldbuilding parts of PM were never the problem. the problem is that the funny, cheeky, human characters, and human-action driven story of the OT was replaced by an obtuse political tale. Also, all of the main characters were incredibly soulless and robotic, ironically with less personality, motivation, drive, etc, than the literal robots in the movie. This carries over into EP2/3, with the single relatable factor being Anakin's character arc.
