Ive played V, its shit. only gets praised because its the ONLY dq that even attempted a real story. but that doesnt excuse the slog of a game.

OP is correct, VIII is the only good game in this series that has
>good pacing
>good level/overworld design
>good characters
>doesnt feel like a chore to play
>soulful
>great visual style
>consistently great music (some of the earlier games also have this but suffer from other issues)
Ive played literally all of them after VIII gaslit me into thinking this was a good series, b
ut no they ALL suck. I have no idea how they accidentally made a compelling game with VIII.
