To pirate a game for whatever reason is for one to believe that they should be above everyone else as well as the belief that they should have everything handed to them for free. It's a sin of greed and pride. To make excuses for such behavior is damaging to ones own soul.
Also refunds are a valid solution. Just play the game for under an hour and if it's something one does not like then request a refund. This goes double for a visual novel where people aren't in it for the gameplay but for a story.
