In the west we want games to be fair, and we only pay for games insofar as we literally have to pay developers so that they can keep making/maintaining videogames as an industry.
In the east, they think that they spend so much time working that it's unfair that they have to spend just as much time as someone who doesn't have to work as much to progress in the game. It is fair for them to be able to use the time they spent working to keep up in the game as opposed to someone who could play the game more often. That's literally what jobs exists for: to give an economic and leisure advantage.
