>Western AAA game industry destroyed itself by chasing away all its talent
Not only that, but believed they can outsource to China/India and still create quality products when it's been worse than ever. Sadly also people have this issue where they do not move from the franchises they like and get mad when a game is made in the way they want it but it's not exactly like the franchise they like. Many people made Unreal Tournament, many variations, none of them sold or did well because people hated it or complained that it was not like the game they liked. At some point it's better to create something you can innovate or something you would like to see than a clone of what already exists.
>It's all thousands of faceless goons outsourced to 5 different countries rehashing IP's from 20 years ago. You cant keep serving the same reheated leftovers forever with BETTER TIMES memberberries. Nostalgia only goes so far
This is the same issue I have with Cartoons a lot. Remember how there was Cartoons for Adults and for Teens like Ooblongs, Mission Hill, and not this generic "Bojack horseman" Reddit nonsense to pander to wide audiences who will consume and leave? It's sad to think about but Cartoons had tons of variety to them, even Western Games did. They knew their demographics, but also respected them at times to understand what was going on with humor.
Even in Video Games there used to be games trying one new feature or trying to combine different features to create a singular interesting experience that no one has ever played before. It's how we managed to get Wizardry, Rogue, and even Ultima for gods sake lol.
West is too reliant on Franchises, IP's than trying new Franchises, IP's, Innovations like you mentioned. Cartoons, Video Games, and even Movies have this issue as a whole. It becomes boring, static, and overdone.
