This is annoying because they already had an explanation for why Classic Halo's architecture is different to that from Halo 4 onwards. The Forerunners had several different castes, each with their own distinct styles. The Builders were responsible for the Halos and so on, while the floaty glowy bits style from 4 was the Warrior caste.
