Not only can Jack switch between job classes freely, but his soul shield gives him the properties of a blue mage, the strongest class, regardless of his current class. Wakka could try and petrify Jack with his Blitzball, but Jack can use soul shield to nullify and copy Wakka's abilities. FUCK, Jack Garland is OVERPOWERED.

FF has been a multiverse since the PS1 and SNES days. The Gilgamesh who appears in FFVIII is the same one from FFV. When FF does it, it's based because they are not chasing recent trends in media. Multiversal FF is organic and part of the vision of the original creators.
