Original catch date goes as far back as Gen 4, since 3 didn't track date, it only tracked time. Ribbons are consistent across generations with the exception of Gen 3/4 contest and Battle Tower, which got replaced by "Contest Memory Ribbon" and "Battle Memory Ribbon" which consolidate those to a single ribbon with a number for how many it relates to. OT are still valid all the way from gen 3. Notably, if you transferred to Legends Arceus very early, some old gen mons unintentionally defaulted to the smallest possible size, which in later games also nets them a mark.

I enjoy the gameplay and despite what people like to say, even at its worst Pokemon is still a relatively unique and compelling gameplay concept for me, especially since it has aspects not typically seen in the JRPG genre (online PvP and raids, co-op etc.)
