While Origins was by no means a perfect game, it came out at a time that there was a real thirst among gamers for what it offered, which makes zero sense as to why Bioware decided to not improve upon its formula, instead opting to fundamentally re-invent the franchise in combat, aesthetic, atmosphere and writing. Which causes 4 distinct issues.

For starters, combat. Say what you want for RTwP, but there is an actual audience for it, you just have to do a good job at it. People still love playing Baldur's Gate 1&2, Icewind Dale 1&2, etc. It doesn't have to be just turn-based or all out action. Even then, if Bioware wanted to, they could create infinite DA spin-offs that experimented with the combat in various ways, without necessarily changing the core combat of the franchise, which helps retain the game's original fanbase. With various failures in combat iterations, with Inquisition being possibly the worst, although it is a toss up between it and DA2, Veilguard opted for spongier, less exciting, and more janky Bamham combat, with worse targeting, and dumber enemy AI than a game from 10 years ago.
