again you're being led completely astray by the stupid "addiction" metaphor. That has no bearing on what's going on. She doesn't want to give up this canvas because it's the one she's emotionally attached to. Nothing to do with addiction. The while point about her being able to oaint another world anyway she want in other canvases just serves as a foil to her coping argument that the reason she doesn't want this canvas destroyed is because she doesn't want her real life, plainly showing that's not actually her true reason because even though it's a truthful solution to her stated problem, she's still not satisfied with it. Because the real reason she doesn't want to part with the canvas is because she does not wanr to let go (of her brother, that painted Lumiere, her brother's soul and essence and creations, of Sciel, Lune...) It's not addiction, as in a drug addiction. meth head cares not fir WHICH meth he gets, he just wants the meth. See the difference? Maelle can get new friends, new "family", new adventure and ourpose to her life, but she doesn't want these new things, she wants to cling to these and deny that her losses ever happened. "I can just bring them back, see? it's fine, I just brought Gustave back! It's really him, because I painted him! Oh Verso, you are tired of this eternal life? That's fine! I'll just make itnsonyou can grow old now haha, ALL IS FINE, no one ever died and no one is unhappy..... because I painted it so...."
But as Verso said, there are things you can't outrun. Eventually Verso will grow old and die. Or Gustave, or Sciel, or Lune. Maybe one or multiple if them even die earlier due to accident or other tragedy. Is she just going to revive everyone every time? Forever? Eventually she WILL have to deal with losing these people that aren't even the original ones, let alone "real". It's not addiction, it's inability to deal with loss.
