I also hate pvp gear in vanilla because it's the only version of the game where you can get awarded amazing gear without a pvp rank. It's entirely dependent on hours put in rather than winning or losing.
But if anything, vanilla pvp isn't retail because it's the only version of the game that DOESN'T require a pvp rank for good gear.
