The plot relation to the rest of the HSR universe is lacking yeah. I'm viewing Amphoreus in it's own little bubble like how it's physically seperated in universe. The Genius society and March stuff feels very vague and secondary despite being things that should matter more but until we actually know what the fuck they keep foreshadowing at I'm only really able to look at the isolated events of Amphoreus as it's own self-contained story.
TB has an active role but could also definitely be replaced by a different character who happened to unlock the Mem benefits and was a strong fighter. There's not much of the trailblaze on display despite them being vital for a lot of the plot progression so I see what you mean, "It's the TB but it doesn't have to be" meanwhile Penacony and Belobog very much hinged on the TB being the TB for things to play out the way they did so I see what you mean. I do wish there was more trailblaze stuff beyond the TB eating a coreflame.
