Yeah skunkworks shouldn't be subject to fictitious accounting, misses the whole point.

Remote work and AI has made this problem so much worse. People are either working multiple jobs on the low or are getting past weak interview processes with AI and then totally failing to do any actual work.
The easiest way to one-up the job market right now is to actually learn the programming language you're using and creating small side-projects.
