It happened with Snowbreak. Back around August of last year, the GFL devs lobbied to have Snowbreak deleted, so instead they raised the age rating. But this got almost every skin pre-rating removed from the game.
This even resulted in some characters, namely Acacia, having EVERY skin removed.
