I don't know who exactly larians writers are or if they are the same between games but it quiet clear if you played their older titles that they had a certain style that is almost completely absent from BG3. They didn't used to take their stories all that seriously accepting that their setting is kinda silly. And they were fun stories. Whatever they tried to do in BG3 was new to them and obviously they failed hard.
