I'd honestly not be surprised if it's because the Chinese who are responsible for the game's writing and characters aren't aware of many of the stereotypes (be they good or bad) about random countries across the world which is why most references towards various cultures and countries seem akin to those you'd find in an encyclopedia about those locations
