Why, because some guy said so years after the fact and didn't even work for Nintendo nor Rare anymore? Well, another guy who also didn't work for Nintendo nor Rare anymore said that DK IS Cranky's son and to completely ignore instances claiming Cranky to be his grandfather.
The movie is it's own universe anyway. If you want the actual latest indication of the relationship between the two, it's DKC Returns, where DK was Cranky's grandson, retconning what was said in DK64. The only question now is if Bananza will stick with it or retcon it again.
Also, all I said was that the movie wasn't the first time DK was referred to as Cranky's son. Which is 100% true.
