You have to be purposefully interpreting the story in the most asinine way to get your reading of events.
>Zola is an incompetent gang member who is recruited because... reasons and then given a relatively high rank under him
zola is a competent gang member who is recruited to put the screws to the ragged king's court to gather information, and if she fails in the attempt, oh well, what's one more dead ganger?
>Morrow has Space Alzheimer's and yet he's best suited to handle the military side of things
morrow is a proven leader of men who killed a commissar who had clearly fallen to khorne's influence, yet recognized the political interest in preserving his reputation. despite injuries suffered in transit that can be mitigated with sefoni, he's definitely an asset to the warband.
>Zola goes and runs an unauthorized op, only to get a slap on the wrist instead of being executed like she should have been
zola's op with brunt is a success, and, as mentioned in the intervoid mission by swagger, rannick employs the same methods as grendyl: operations run by expendable assets. If she had failed, his hands were clean, and if she succeeds then he's happy.
>Had absolutely no idea or could conceive of the cult being on the planet before Wolfer (see Warren 6-19 when he's the mission controller with Morrow)
>I confess that I am not surprised. Then again, I seldom am.
>Yes ... It becomes increasingly apparent that the Moebians may be a symptom, not the disease. / Conspiracy and heresy go hand in hand. Grendyl will not be happy, but nor will Grendyl be surprised.
Sounds like this was a possibility that was explored, and the mission merely provides proof
>continues to be outsmarted by them and hasn't even begun to scratch at the surface of what's going on (Dark Communion)
obliterating secret rituals at the 11th hour by accident with a handful of hobos isn't really being outsmarted, and even if he is bumbling, which I doubt, then what does that say about them?
