The breed of game that follows this mindset is being killed by franchises like Souls, Monster Hunter, and Baldur's Gate. People only bought that up in the 00s because it was the only type of game that was allowed to have a budget, and that was the peak of people being wowed by graphics.
Most gamers love videogames (which is why they play videogames) and are reasonably competent at them (wouldn't be very fun if they weren't), and for someone who actually likes games, having your hand held doesn't make for much of one. The only people who like this stuff are actual retards who want to clap at the pretty colors, and contrary to what clueless executives and nerds with an inflated view of their own intelligence relative to the general population might believe, that's not the average player. Proof: those types of games are losing as alternatives become available. Even if they can't solve the puzzle or are feeling too lazy, they'd rather look up the solution online than have no puzzle at all.
