If you read the articles talking about the disappointing third party sales of the Switch 2, you would understand that comparing the two's initial sales in the launch window of the consoles is misleading. The Switch 2 has sold more third party games in the same time as the Switch 1, but the Switch 1 launched with Just Dance, Skylanders and Super Bomberman R as physical third party games. Compared to the Switch 2 launching with a lot more third party games physically, it means that despite selling third party games overall, there were much higher expectations for the Switch 2 than there were for the Switch 1. This is why the third party sales are so bad for the Switch 2 now, with a publisher saying that sales on the Switch 2 are below what they thought would be the bare minimum.
