I don't think they really are. At least with a code in a box I don't have to insert a piece of useless plastic to get my downloaded game to run. It's digital games with the downside of physical games. Code in a box games will probably end up being relatively cheaper to buy as well in comparison as the price of them would go down quite a lot. The only benefit to game key cards is if you want to resell. But if the only good thing your format is doing is making it so you can sell it off, while making things worse for the people using the format it's a bad format.
