but also, as much as I love the time period of Rome 2 I just prefer Shogun 2 gameplay-wise, Rome 2 feels slower in battles, and I'm spoiled by Warhammer where every turn feels like there's clear objectives and optimal things to do but I could never wrap my head around what to do in Rome 2's early game, and there's so many factions with slighter differences in roster availability as opposed to the much more colorful "we buff gunpowder" and "cavalry" and "daikatana" factions of Shogun 2.
