It unironically bothers me that ilvl is so ridiculously different from character level. I mean, fuck, it wouldn’t be HARD to define the formulas to have LFR-tier epics for season one be ilvl equal to level cap, then normal, heroic, and mythic are each baseline one ilvl apart with all the upgrade tracks, then have each season increment baseline. You could easily calibrate it so that mythic gear at maximum upgrade in final season has an ilvl equal to level cap +9, meaning that the next expansion leveling gear wouldn’t outclass it but you’d need to regear for raiding. But no, can’t have numbers that actually mean things.
