These people want power and an excuse to shove their beliefs down everyone's throats. They don't give a shit about the lower classes. Hence the current anti-trans and anti-immigrant hysteria. If you look at who's proposing such measures, who's profiting from auch measures, and which people have more investments at stake, anyone can tell that it's all interconnected. But some people would rather hate a scapegoat and ignore that, then open their eyes and realize they're being fleeced. "As long as the right people are hurt, it doesn't matter", even if it will eventually hurt you. So short-sighted many people are, to excuse transgressions against liberty, just to feel all high and mighty about themselves.
