I mean more handicapping in the "story way". Example is that the first tribal raid (always one dude or chick normally) became my prisoner. She was ideal with her skills and passiosn but also pretty so I "roleplayed" that the woman (and religious leader) of my colony killed her of out of spite. It's a small thing but I found that once you open the gate to "meta" gaming it's difficult to close it.
