Might be an idea eventually but a publisher deal wont work. I need to retain full rights to the game and publish it under circumstances I control. bringing in a publisher sells the soul of the game to the highest bidder. Definitely a hard pass.

It can be useful if all you want to do is make game and don't care about preserving it or controlling it from the hands of bad publishers. If your paycheck matters to you more than the art, then it's a deal that works if you can get it, but if you do care absolutely don't do it.
