Unless it's a pure sandbox toy style game, everyone wants to feel powerful and like they're "winning".
Nobody wants to feel like they're missing out or wasting their time. (And it's easy to feel like you're wasting your time in PoE 2.)
This remains true even for people playing off-meta builds. That's just a self-imposed rule like SSF. Within it, you're still trying to feel powerful and "win" with whatever off-meta build you choose. Satisfaction comes from feeling that the build is working, is successful.
What I find weird is that this needs to be explained to anyone.
