Anyone can set their goal or enjoyment of the game for anything they see being fun for them? Some do enjoy the visual novel aspect even if you are hinting it doesn't matter because you don't see it being an acceptable answer. Some farm fans, some farm titles(outside of CM specific ones), some try to farm TT teams to chase the leaderboards in there, some just simply play the career without a thought in their head, some enjoy the aspect of roguelike rng purely for the concept itself, some enjoy the stories/events and take breaks if they are done with those. There is a ton of things you can come up with to set as a goal or otherwise enjoy.
Saying the CM/PvP is the only thing that matters as gameplay even when it is entirely optional is simply not true for all. No matter how stupid or silly it might seem to some, people enjoy different things such as running Urara for a million times because they just do that, it's fun for them.
