my personal favorite newer pack is star technology, GT skyblock for one of the newest versions and my personal favorite approach to generating resources from nothing because there are a lot of varied lines and logistics challenges to keep on top of. As for a couple other newer packs I'd say reclamation (very strongly themed pack with a pretty solid questbook and unique progression) and wold's vaults (overhaul of a different modpack called vault hunters 3 that attempts to fix a lot of the jank, I personally recommend using the ingame configs to turn crystal requirements down if not off entirely if it starts to bug you, having to fish around for random shit in the overworld to do the dungeons the pack is based around is the antithesis of fun) are both pretty good; I've also recently looked into one called compression that seems cool but I haven't had the chance to play since I'm running a chromaticraft toymy right now. There are also a handful of good create packs (above and beyond, arcane engineering, astral) since that's the big new tech mod but they can be pretty polarizing and I've too much create fatigue right now to fully try them all. In terms of stuff you should also avoid like the plague that gets shilled like hell I'd say to avoid the beyond packs (beyond depth, beyond ascension, etc.), they're overhyped and slapped together garbage.
